In an initiative that combines community goodwill with a commitment to keeping sensitive information secure, the Mesa community is once again gearing up for ‘The Big Shred’ event. On Saturday, September 16, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., the Klaus Team office’s parking lot at the southeast corner of Ellsworth and Guadalupe will transform into a shredding hub for residents looking to dispose of sensitive documents safely.

But there’s more to this event than just protecting your personal information. ‘The Big Shred’ is partnering with the Mesa Hydration Campaign, which is in full swing throughout the month of September. The suggested donation for participating in ‘The Big Shred’ is a case or more of bottled water. These water donations will be invaluable to support the Mesa Hydration Campaign’s mission of providing much-needed water to the homeless and unsheltered during the unforgiving Arizona summer.

Each household is invited to bring up to two boxes of sensitive documents to be securely shredded on-site, giving individuals peace of mind knowing their confidential information will not fall into the wrong hands. The event is a fantastic opportunity to declutter and responsibly dispose of old bank statements, tax records, medical bills, and other documents that may contain sensitive personal data.

“We are thrilled to once again host ‘The Big Shred’ event,” said Kenny Klaus. “It’s a wonderful way to give back to our community while ensuring that our residents can dispose of their confidential documents in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.”

The Mesa Hydration Campaign is dedicated to keeping vulnerable members of the community hydrated during the blistering Arizona summer. The bottled water collected during ‘The Big Shred’ will be sent to United Food Bank, who distributes to various locations and agency partners who ensure that water is provided to those in need, offering vital relief in the face of scorching temperatures.

“Mesa’s summertime heat can be unforgiving, especially for our homeless and unsheltered neighbors,” noted Scott Kooiman, a United Food Bank board member. “The simple act of donating bottled water at ‘The Big Shred’ can have a significant impact on the well-being of our fellow community members who struggle with the extreme heat.”

As you prepare to participate in ‘The Big Shred’ this Saturday, remember that your generous contribution of bottled water can make all the difference for someone in need. Let’s come together as a community to protect our sensitive information and extend a helping hand to those who require our support during the sweltering Arizona summer.
