Gilbert, Ariz. – In an effort to promote water conservation and sustainable landscaping practices, Gilbert’s Water Conservation Division is offering residents the chance to win a cutting-edge smart irrigation controller at their upcoming landscape workshops.
Smart controllers, such as the Rachio smart sprinkler controller being raffled off, utilize advanced technology to automatically adjust watering schedules based on real-time weather data. This not only saves homeowners valuable time but also helps conserve water, ultimately leading to cost savings.
The workshops, scheduled from February 29 to March 21, will cover a range of topics including information on desert-adapted plants, water conservation rebates, and water-saving tips and programs. With water scarcity becoming an increasingly pressing issue, particularly in regions like Gilbert reliant on the Colorado River, the workshops aim to equip residents with the knowledge and tools to use water more efficiently, especially in outdoor settings where the bulk of water consumption occurs.
The upcoming workshops include:
- Gilbert Water Conservation Programs – Thursday, February 29 | 6:30-9PM
- Sustainable Landscapes – Thursday, March 7 | 6:30-9PM
- The ABCs of Landscape Watering – Thursday, March 14 | 6:30-9PM
- Maximize your Irrigation System – Thursday, March 21 | 6:30-9PM
All workshops will take place from 6:30-9PM in the Assembly Room at the Southeast Regional Library (775 N. Greenfield Rd) and are free for Gilbert residents to attend.
Participants can register for the workshops and learn more about the event at gilbertaz.gov/WaterWorkshops.
By attending these workshops, residents not only stand to gain valuable insights into sustainable landscaping practices but also have the opportunity to win a smart irrigation controller, contributing to both water conservation efforts and smarter, more efficient water use in their own yards.
